Experience/Qualifications
· Hold a Level 3 or above qualification in Childcare (with related Playworker qualification desired, if not, applicant would need to be happy to complete the transitional award level 3 with support).
· At least 2 years’ experience is essential in delivering Early Entitlement education (we are happy to support any refresher training where required through Flintshire County Council).
· Have previous leadership experience, preferably managerial experience in a similar setting.
· Hold at least 2 years post-qualifying experience in a nursery/childcare setting and be passionate to work with young children (preferably between ages of 2 – 4 years).
· Safeguarding (Group C), First Aid (2 Day) and Food Hygiene (Level 2) are all desired but can be arranged upon recruitment of the right person.
· Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Care Inspectorate Wales Minimum Standards along with Safeguarding procedures.
· Excellent organisational skills.
· Be happy to liaise with Ysgol Derwen at times of transition and when collecting children for Wraparound sessions.
· Ability to work as a member of a team to support and encourage each other.
· Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
· Great time keeping and attendance record.
· Good IT skills.
· Be imaginative, creative and not afraid to be covered in mud, paint or gloop and most importantly, have fun!
Childcare Lead Duties
· To be registered with the Care Inspectorate Wales as a designated Person in Charge.
· Work with children in delivering enriching experiences to encourage growth and development of the children in our care.
· Ensure the setting is safe, stimulating and compliant with Care Inspectorate Wales, Local Authorities and relevant bodies and safeguarding requirements.
· Identify any children who require additional support and liaise with the appropriate authorities to ensure support is provided.
· To liaise with the Local Authority, Care Inspectorate Wales and other agencies as required.
· To ensure the SEFI (Self-Evaluation Form) is completed annually along with the Childcare Lead for Breakfast/Afterschool club.
· To bring ideas for sessions and to continually adapt planning in the moment.
· To ensure free flow running of the sessions allowing children the choice of activity and to allow engaging experiences.
· To be responsible for and oversee day-to-day staffing and to ensure the smooth running of the Playgroup (Early Entitlement) and Wraparound sessions.
· To line manage staff and support their learning and development. To complete necessary paperwork in relation to return-to-works etc.
· To identify staff training needs and facilitate training opportunities.
· Managing staff leave requests and appointment tracking to ensure staffing requirements are met.
· To (with the help of the Admin Manager) set-up comprehensive staff files and to complete Appraisals and Observations of staff.
· Provide constructive, honest feedback to support and encourage all the staff.
· To communicate with the Childcare Lead for Breakfast, Afterschool and Holiday Club to ensure staff, parents and children have a seamless experience.
· To implement our Policies and Procedures consistent with regulations and local requirements, ensuring they are kept up to date throughout the setting (with the help of the Admin Manager).
· To maintain documentation in accordance with the Data Protection Act and keep that information locked away and to ensure confidential information regarding children, their families or other staff members are secure at all times.
· To monitor and manage any child behaviour problems in an appropriate and timely manner.
· To respond to and escalate any complaints in line with our club policies.
· To carry out regular risk assessment checks both inside and outside the setting.
· Building and maintaining excellent relationships with children, parents and staff.
Pay: £14.50 per hour
