The Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing bookkeeping and payroll functions for multiple clients, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the delivery of high-quality accounting services.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients.
- Process and reconcile sales, purchases, bank transactions, and journals.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with HMRC requirements.
- Process weekly and monthly payrolls and ensure compliance with payroll legislation.
- Manage pension submissions and payroll-related reporting.
- Reconcile bank accounts, control accounts, and client ledgers.
- Assist with the preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
- Liaise with clients regarding bookkeeping, payroll, and accounting queries.
- Maintain records using cloud-based accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.
- Support the implementation and improvement of internal accounting processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Skills and Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years' experience in bookkeeping and payroll administration.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and payroll processing.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Good understanding of VAT procedures and financial record keeping.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and client service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- AAT qualification or equivalent accounting experience is desirable.
