Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a friendly and proactive Retail Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about customer service, knowledgeable in horticulture and gardening, and capable of supporting our retail environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop organisational skills and gain experience in merchandising within a vibrant retail setting. Fluency in multiple languages, including English and Spanish, is highly desirable to assist a diverse customer base. The position is paid and suitable for individuals eager to contribute positively to our team.

Responsibilities

Assisting customers with their enquiries and providing excellent service
Organising and maintaining the retail displays to ensure attractive presentation of products
Supporting the merchandising process by replenishing stock and ensuring items are correctly labelled
Providing advice on gardening and horticultural products, sharing knowledge with customers
Managing stock levels and assisting with inventory checks
Operating the cash register and processing transactions accurately
Maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the store environment
Supporting promotional activities and seasonal displays as required

Skills

Strong communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish is advantageous
Multilingual abilities to assist a diverse clientele effectively
Knowledge of gardening, horticulture, or related fields is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for those eager to learn
Excellent organisational skills with an eye for detail in merchandising and store presentation
Ability to work well within a team and independently when necessary
Friendly demeanour with strong interpersonal skills to engage with customers confidently
Basic IT skills for operating point-of-sale systems and stock management software
