Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled TM44 Air Conditioning Assessor ( training will be provided for the right candidate) to carry out independent inspections of air conditioning systems in line with CIBSE TM44 guidance and UK Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations. You will produce high-quality reports that support legal compliance and provide clients with actionable advice on system efficiency. This role involves a mix of site-based inspections, report writing, and client liaison, with the majority of work focused between Bristol and London, plus occasional national travel. Full training and accreditation can be provided for a candidate that has the right skills, knowledge and moidset to take on this role. There is also scope for broadening skills and knowledge through assisting the BMS controls team when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive TM44 inspections of air conditioning systems (Levels 3 and 4) across commercial, industrial, and other non-domestic buildings.
- Assess system efficiency, sizing, controls, maintenance regimes, and overall performance against best practices.
- Produce detailed, professional TM44 reports, including recommendations for energy savings, carbon reduction, and operational improvements.
- Lodge valid inspection reports on the relevant government register.
- Maintain strong client relationships, providing clear advice on compliance and efficiency opportunities.
- Keep up to date with changes in legislation, TM44 guidance, and building services technology.
- Travel to client sites as required (company vehicle or expenses provided).
Essential Requirements
- Accredited TM44 Air Conditioning Energy Assessor (Level 3 and ideally Level 4) with current membership of an approved accreditation scheme (e.g., CIBSE, Quidos, Stroma, or equivalent). smartgreentech-solutions.com
- Strong knowledge of building services plant, air conditioning systems (including simple split/VRF and complex centralised/chilled water systems), and energy assessment principles.
- Practical experience in HVAC, building services engineering, or energy consultancy.
- Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally (with majority focus on Bristol/London).
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Background as a qualified air conditioning engineer or in building services design/maintenance.
- Experience with energy efficiency audits or related compliance work (e.g., EPCs, DEC).
- Knowledge of current UK energy regulations (EPBD, Part L, etc.).
