Location: Cornwall
Department: Neighbourhood Services
Contract: Fixed term contract until 31st March 2028, Full-time (37 hours)
Salary: £25,877.80 per annum

We’re now looking for a Communal Meter Coordinator to play a key role in managing and modernising communal utility metering across our housing stock. This is an exciting opportunity to support smarter, greener energy usage while ensuring accurate billing and improved customer experience.

This role is perfect for someone who loves being organised, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly.

?? What you’ll be doing

As our Communal Meter Coordinator, you will:

Create and maintain an accurate inventory of all communal utility meters across Ocean’s homes
Coordinate the rollout of smart meters—working with utility providers, contractors, and colleagues
Support safe working by identifying risks such as asbestos backboards and arranging appropriate removal
Keep meter data accurate and up to date within our housing management system
Record essential meter readings to ensure correct billing for our customers
Carry out customer consultations to keep residents informed
Help align Ocean’s meter records with the National Grid to avoid unnecessary energy costs

This work directly contributes to efficiency, sustainability and the wellbeing of residents across Cornwall.

?? What we’re looking for

You’ll be great in this role if you have:

Essential

GCSEs (Grade 4–9 / A–C) in English and Maths, or equivalent
Understanding of smart energy meters – or the ability to learn quickly
Experience dealing with utility providers
Awareness of asbestos and other hazardous materials
Good understanding of safe working practices and health & safety
Clear communication skills (written and verbal)
Ability to use IT systems accurately
Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
Your own vehicle and ability to travel to different sites
