Svitzer Marine Limited is offering an Apprentice Port Technician position based in Pembroke Dock — an outstanding opportunity to gain recognised engineering qualifications while working alongside experienced marine professionals in a busy operational environment.
This is far more than a classroom apprenticeship. Successful candidates will gain practical experience maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems across a range of marine vessels including RIBs, line-handling boats, and tugs, while studying towards an Advanced Apprenticeship Framework Level 3 qualification in engineering through Pembrokeshire College.
For nearly two centuries, Svitzer has provided critical marine services to customers around the world. Operating a modern fleet and employing highly skilled maritime professionals, Svitzer supports the safe and efficient movement of vessels through some of the world's busiest ports and waterways.
- KEY AREAS OF WORK
- Complete planned and unplanned maintenance and repair to RIBs, line-handling boats, barges and tugs operated by Svitzer in the port, up to and including some of the largest tugs in service anywhere in the world.
- Assist the Svitzer Port Technicians as may be required. This may include servicing, repairs, disassembly, reassembly and fabrication of parts.
- Assist the Fitter with control of the supply of equipment, spares etc via a maintenance management system.
- To assist, undertake and perform other duties which may be required from time to time to ensure the efficient operation of the business.
- What’s on offer:
- Paid practical engineering experience

- One day per week at college with four days in the workplace

We’re looking for motivated individuals with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or above, and with a passion for engineering.
