Full job description

We are currently looking for a Prep Chef to join our prepared fruit and vegetable team at the Caterprep site in Penrith. You will play a key role in preparing high-quality fruit and vegetables for caterers across Cumbria, Scotland, and the North of England.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, vibrant, and fast-paced production environment which is going from strength to strength.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare stocked and made-to-order product lines to a high standard
Carry out high-volume vegetable and fruit preparation using strong knife skills
Slice, dice, peel, and chop produce quickly and accurately to required specifications
Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation across all product lines
Carry out quality checks and ensure all products meet company standards
Operate machinery where required to support production volumes
Follow stock rotation procedures and handle stock correctly
Ensure all health, safety, and food hygiene standards are met at all times
Maintain a clean and organised workspace (“clean as you go” policy)
Assist with packing and labelling of finished products when required
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
Work efficiently to meet daily targets and deadlines

Requirements:

Previous experience as a Prep Chef or in a fast-paced food production/kitchen environment is essential
Strong knife skills and the ability to prepare vegetables quickly and safely is essential
Good knowledge of fresh produce and food preparation techniques
Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume environment
Confident working both independently and as part of a team
A proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to support others
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
Strong communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude
Flexible approach to working hours and workloads
