Disability Support Worker - Classroom Assistant

We are currently looking for a Disability Support Worker to join a dedicated team at a Specialist unit. You’ll be part of a supportive, nurturing environment helping pupils with Autism and complex needs reach their full potential.
This is a rewarding role where you’ll build trusted relationships, help create engaging learning experiences, and support students’ emotional, social, and physical development.
School hours are 8.45am - 3.30pm we are looking for people who have experience working with children and young adults with complex needs. You’ll play an essential role in supporting the teacher and children through the day. Your responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with teachers and TA’s to support children throughout the day.
- Supporting pupils with Autism, sensory or communication needs
- Working 1-1 or in small group setting
- Engage in both classroom-based and outdoor learning experiences
- Creating a calm, positive learning environment tailored to each pupil's needs

Qualifications & Requirements
- A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree, or equivalent)
- Experience supporting children with SEND
- Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities

- Monday to Friday 8.45am - 3.30pm (Term-Time only)

Pay Rate: £14.60 - £16.90 per hour
Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Pay: £14.60-£16.90 per hour
