Position: Herdsperson/Assitant Herdsperson

Accommodation: 3 bedroom property on farm available if required
We are seeking an experienced dairy herdsperson to join our small team in Penrith Cumbria. The role will be working alongside the farm manager to ensure smooth day-to-day running of the dairy herd.
We are a multi-site farm milking 460 pedigree Holsteins across 2 sites, with ongoing expansion up to 600 over the next 12 months. We run a 14/14 herringbone parlour, along with a De-Laval robotic milking system.
Responsibilities:
Milking Operations:
- Lead milk in 14/14 herringbone parlour as required.
- Operate and monitor the robotic milking system
Livestock Management:
- Assist in fertility management, including monitoring of heat detection system.
- Assist in management of foot health and lameness within the herd, including assisting with fortnightly foot trimmer visits.
Calf Management
- De-horning, tagging and vaccination of calves.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in dairy farming is a must.
- Valid AI certificate desirable but training can be provided.
- Valid foot-trimming certificate desirable but training can be provided
- Comfortable working with Uniform, Delpro and Robots would be desirable, although training can be provided
- Ability to work in a team and independently.
- Physical fitness and ability to handle outdoor and manual work.
- Passion for animal welfare and sustainable farming practices.
