HOUSING ASSISTANT
Location: Penrith / Agile working
Salary: £30,613.73 FTE (£15,306.87 pro rata)
Permanent Contract
Part Time (18.5 hours) days worked to be agreed with the successful candidate
Due to both changes and additional resource within the Housing team, we have the following opportunity available to join our housing team.
The Housing Assistant provides vital administrative and operational support to the Housing Team, helping to deliver a responsive and customer‑focused housing service. The role supports rent arrears recovery, including cases over £500, accurately updating rent accounts and systems. You will also support Housing Officers by preparing paperwork for visits and court activity.
You will play a key role in lettings and voids management by arranging home visits, working through property shortlists, offering vacant homes, arranging and carrying out tenancy sign‑ups. This includes attending voids, ASB and other housing meetings, liaising with internal teams and raising invoices for rechargeable repairs.
The role is customer‑facing and involves providing general housing advice in reception and over the phone, taking payments, supporting mutual exchanges, and dealing with low‑level ASB cases. You will work closely with the Housing Officers, Void Property Officer, Financial Inclusion Workers, Customer Advisors and external agencies such as Social Services, Housing Benefit, courts and support organisations, making referrals where appropriate and ensuring residents receive timely advice and support.
If this sounds like an opportunity you'd be interested in, we very much look forward to hearing from you. If you would like to discuss either opportunity informally, please speak to Jen Glassford by telephone on 01768 481400.
