Full job description

Job Overview
We are currently looking for a Production Operator to join our prepared fruit and vegetable team at the Caterprep site in Penrith. You will be helping to prepare high-quality fruit and vegetables for caterers across Cumbria, Scotland, and the North of England.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, vibrant, and fast-paced production environment which is going from strength to strength.

Responsibilities

Prepare stocked and made-to-order product lines from our range, specifically our potato range
Operate heavy-duty and light machinery to assist with volume production
Slice, dice, peel, and chop produce to required standards and specifications
Carry out quality checks and ensure consistency of products
Pack and label finished products accurately
Follow stock rotation procedures and handle stock correctly
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
Maintain high health, safety, and hygiene standards (“clean as you go” policy)
Clean production areas and equipment as part of daily routines
Handle incoming and outgoing orders efficiently
Work independently and collaboratively within a team

Requirements

Experience working in a food production or busy kitchen environment is essential
Strong knife skills and good knowledge of fresh produce preferred
Able to work under pressure and adapt to changing workloads
Positive, hands-on, and flexible approach
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to quality
Good communication skills and a can-do attitude
Basic computer skills are helpful but not essential (training provided)
Willingness to learn machinery, procedures, and systems (full training provided)
