Full job description

Location: WHEELBASE Lake District,

Staveley Mill Yard, Staveley, Kendal, Cumbria LA8 9LR UK

We are currently looking for applicants for the role of Workshop Technician at our WHEELBASE Lake District store in the village of Staveley, just outside Kendal.

You will be based on the Service Centre of our brand new re-fitted, and re-organised workshop at the UK’s largest cycle store in the heart of the English Lake District. You will work with a team of very experienced cycle mechanics in a welcoming and professional environment.

We sell the latest products from the leading brands across all cycling disciplines – mountain, road, electric, leisure, kids and adventure and your role will be to build, PDI, service and repair these bicycles.

You will be a positive team player; performance focused and offer a best-in-class customer experience through great team dynamics, excellent knowledge and skills and good time management.

The role is fast paced, varied and testing.

About the job:

You will be a key member of the workshop team at our fully re-fitted professional workshop supporting the Workshop Manager.

We run a professional team of technicians at all our cycle stores, and you will need to integrate well into the busy yet relaxed environment of our pro-workshop. You will need to ensure all our customers are treated professionally, politely and leave the workshop feeling that they have received great customer service.

You will be required to:

Support the Workshop Team in all functions of our Service centre including time and workflow management, communication, bike building, PDI, fault diagnoses, job quotes and servicing.
Be technically proficient and able to work independently on a diverse range of bicycles.
You must be up to date with the latest cycling technologies including electric bikes, electronic shifting and the latest suspension systems.
Remain approachable, friendly and confident at all times when assisting customers.
Give quick, yet realistic estimations for repairing bikes.
Provide full support to the workshop manager and play your part in achieving department turnover and customer experience targets.
We are open 7 days a week and the role will require working at least one day at the weekend. The role is full time, 5 days a week, 40 hours.
Ensure that your workspace is clean, organised and completely cleared at the end of the day.

About you:

You will have previous experience of working in a service centre.
Demonstrate previous experience of workflow management.
Have good attention to detail and set yourself high standards.
Run a clean, well-managed and presentable department.
Understand and apply company policies.
A team player who is committed to the business.
Eagerness to develop your product knowledge and learn new skills.
Efficient and accurate time management and workflow.

Hours: 9am to 5.30pm, 5 days a week, fulltime role, including one day at a weekend
