Event Telehandler Operative

Run 4 Wales is a not-for-profit social enterprise that delivers world-class events including the Cardiff Half Marathon, Newport Marathon Festival and Cardiff 10K. We’re looking for reliable and safety-conscious Event Telehandler Operatives to support the build and breakdown of our major events.
What You’ll Do
Working as part of our Event Production Crew, you’ll help ensure equipment and infrastructure are delivered, installed and removed safely and efficiently.
Key duties include:
· Operating a telehandler during event build and breakdown
· Loading, unloading and transporting event equipment
· Driving Luton and Transit vans to event venues
· Assisting with the setup and pack-down of gazebos, fencing, gantries, signage and event infrastructure
· Supporting the wider production team on-site
· Following health and safety procedures at all times
About You
You’re someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and being part of a team delivering something at scale. You’re comfortable working outdoors in all weather, flexible when plans change, and able to stay focused on doing the job safely and properly - even when the pace is high and timelines are tight.
You’ll also value the team side of event work - working alongside a supportive crew, solving problems on the go, and getting the satisfaction of seeing a major event come together because of what you’ve helped deliver behind the scenes.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
· Valid Telehandler License (min 2 years)
· Full UK driving license
· Confident driving Luton and Transit vans
· Experience in a similar role
· Reliable, punctual and able to work under pressure
· Strong practical skills and a hands-on approach
· Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
Desirable:
· Previous event or outdoor operations experience
· Knowledge of temporary event infrastructure
· Health and safety awareness within event environments
What We Offer
· From £16.77 per hour
· Freelance or PAYE
· Paid mileage expenses
· Holiday pay (for workers paid through payroll only)

Availability
This is a flexible, casual role with approximately 15–30 event days per year, depending on availability and event schedules.
Successful applicants should be available for some or all of the following event periods:
· Porthcawl 10K: 4–5 July 2026
· Cardiff 10K: 5–6 September 2026
· Cardiff Half Marathon: 29 September – 6 October 2026
· Newport Marathon Festival: 16–19 April 2027
· Barry 10K: 14-16 May 2027
