Job Description: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Operative
Company Overview
The Cher Varya Group is based in Truro and provides comprehensive property maintenance and repair services across both commercial and residential properties within the Group’s portfolio.
Most properties are located within Cornwall, although occasional travel across the wider South West may be required.
Role Overview
As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for the general upkeep, repair, and maintenance of buildings within the Group’s portfolio. This is a hands-on role requiring initiative, versatility, and the ability to work independently.
You will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, with health and safety always being a top priority.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general property maintenance and small repairs across multiple sites
- Perform tasks including:
- Basic carpentry
- Painting and decorating
- General building repairs
- Diagnose faults and resolve maintenance issues efficiently
- Liaise with external contractors for specialist or complex work
- Manage your daily workload independently to meet targets
- Maintain accurate records of work completed
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
- Report any major defects, risks, or required follow-up work
Working Hours & Conditions
- Full-time, permanent position
- 40 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday
- Occasional weekend work may be required
- Start and finish at the Company’s Truro office
- Daily tasks assigned by your line manager, with autonomy to manage your schedule
- Travel to sites using a company-provided vehicle

Essential Requirements
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar maintenance role
- Strong general maintenance skills across multiple trades
- Good understanding of health and safety practices
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative
- Good communication skills for working with contractors and team members
- Positive, “can-do” attitude
Desirable Skills
- Recognised trade qualification (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical)
- Experience in property or facilities maintenance
- Basic IT skills for reporting/logging tasks
- Knowledge of compliance standards (e.g., fire safety, building regs)
Pre-Employment Checks
