We're looking for Groundworker Apprentices to join our Natural Resources team to assist on our South West Water framework, working towards a Level 2 Groundworker Apprenticeship.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading construction and infrastructure services company on an apprenticeship. Whilst working towards a recognised qualification, you'll be able to put your learnings into practice in your day-to-day role, helping you progress within your chosen career.
Location: Bodmin, Cornwall and Hatherleigh, Devon
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: £20,800
Other: Due to the nature of work and the location of sites a full UK driving license is required
How does an apprenticeship work?
As a Groundworker Apprentice you'll be enrolled onto a Level 2 Groundworker Apprenticeship, giving you the opportunity to earn whilst you learn. You'll work closely with the Natural Resources team to provide design, build and maintenance solutions to protect the UK's essential services and assets..
Your day to day will include:
- Understanding the principles of health, safety, welfare and environmentally responsible work practices and how they must be applied in relation to the work, self and to others including understanding the principles of risk assessments
- Technology including key factors and systems of work appropriate to different work environments and industry sectors (e.g. civil engineering, private residential, commercial)
- Understand the differences between modern and traditional construction methods and the physical and environmental factors when undertaking construction work and their potential impacts
- Learn the techniques to handle and move loads manually and with mechanical aids including guiding the movement of articulated vehicles, plant and machinery using hand signals, hand signaling equipment and verbal/electronic communication equipment and storing resources safely and securely
