We are looking for a highly motivated, person-centred Autism Co-Ordinator to join our Family and Education Services team.
Our Family and Education team lead on:
-Family support services; including one to one support, parent groups
-Perth Autism Support Enquiry Line
-Support in schools for families, children and young people
-Delivery of parents learning programmes
As part of our Family and Education Services team, you will be central to the successful delivery of a high-quality family focussed service for registered families across Perth & Kinross and will have a flexible and strengths-based approach to developing support.
The role of Autism Co-Ordinator is to lead the planning, preparation and delivery of support, in a way that is right for each family at a time that is right for them.
You will be an ambassador for Perth Autism Support, building relationships across the community to further our vision to support autistic children and young people to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
-Build relationships with children, young people and families to support them to achieve their goals through a range of support options
-Effective and supportive engagement with parents/carers, always developing trusting and honest communication
-Managing a caseload of support, providing support, advice and guidance to families, and reviewing support plans
-Liaising with multiple services across Perth and Kinross and also internally at Perth Autism Support to ensure appropriate support
-Deliver advice and guidance through our Enquiry Line as part of a rota system
-Register new families to Perth Autism Support, identifying needs and signposting to relevant internal services
-Deliver outreach support across Perth & Kinross which may include Highland Perthshire, Blairgowrie, Crieff, Kinross or Carse of Gowrie
-Evaluation of support to feedback to Team Leader and Service Manager-Delivery of learning sessions for families as part of the wider team
-Delivery of parents group social opportunities
-Delivery of key projects e.g. Early Years Support, Autistic Parents Support as part of the wider team
Skills and Experience
-Practical, relevant experience working in a family focussed service within Education, Health or Social Care
-Experience/understanding of autism and working with individuals with lived experience
-Knowledge of local networks across Perth & Kinross that are relevant to the work of Perth Autism Support
-Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with a range of people
-Strong interpersonal skills
-Excellent research skills to be able to continue to evolve approach in service delivery-Strong organisational skills
-Evidence of ability to develop and maintain partnerships
-IT skills
– MS Office, databases
-Happy to work flexibly in a small team
-Driver with access to a car for work (mileage is paid)
