Fife (Community, Outreach and Partner Settings)
£30,000 per annum
36 Hours per Week
Fixed-Term 12 Months (subject to funding)

At Substances Support Scotland (SSS), we believe that change starts with one conversation.

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Dedicated Addiction Worker to join our ASSIST Service, supporting individuals affected by alcohol and substance use who are experiencing complex challenges in their lives. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by helping people build stability, improve wellbeing and move towards positive, lasting change.

About the Role

As a Dedicated Addiction Worker, you will provide intensive, recovery-focused support to individuals affected by alcohol and substance use. Working across community settings, you will support people to overcome barriers, access essential services, develop recovery plans, and build the resilience needed to achieve their goals.

You will work closely with NHS services, housing providers, local authorities and third-sector organisations to ensure individuals receive coordinated and effective support.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver one-to-one recovery-focused support and interventions.
Complete assessments and develop personalised recovery plans.
Support harm reduction, relapse prevention and recovery maintenance.
Provide advocacy and practical support to individuals facing complex challenges.
Promote and distribute naloxone where appropriate.
Support access to housing, health services, education, volunteering and employment opportunities.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to service reporting.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

SVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent recognised qualification).
Full UK Driving Licence.
Experience supporting individuals affected by alcohol and/or substance use.
Experience delivering one-to-one support and case management.
Understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred practice.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
PVG Scheme Membership or willingness to obtain membership.

Desirable

Experience working within alcohol and drug services.
Knowledge of the Scottish Government Quality Principles and Charter of Rights.
Training in ABI, DBI, ASIST, SMHFA, Naloxone or Motivational Interviewing.
Experience supporting people experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
Experience facilitating group work and recovery-focused interventions.
