We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer who can provide technical leadership across complex software projects. You will help define engineering standards, guide architectural decisions and support the delivery of secure, scalable and maintainable applications.
This is a hands-on senior position for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical problems, mentoring other developers and working closely with product, design and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
Provide technical direction across software development projects and ensure engineering decisions support business, security and performance requirements.
Software Architecture
Design scalable application architectures, integration patterns, APIs and technical solutions for complex business systems.
Hands On Development
Contribute high-quality production code and support the development of critical application components and services.
Engineering Standards
Establish and improve coding standards, testing practices, documentation requirements and software development processes.
Code Review
Review code produced by engineering teams and provide practical feedback that improves maintainability, security and performance.
Team Mentoring
Support Senior, Mid Level and Junior Software Engineers through technical coaching, pair programming and structured knowledge sharing.
System Performance
Identify performance bottlenecks, reliability concerns and technical risks before they affect customers or project delivery.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work with product managers, business analysts, designers and clients to translate complex requirements into realistic technical solutions.
Continuous Improvement
Evaluate appropriate tools, frameworks and development approaches that can improve delivery quality and engineering productivity.
What We Are Looking For
Experience
At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including experience in a senior technical or mentoring position.
Technical Expertise
Strong experience building scalable web applications, APIs, distributed services or enterprise software platforms.
Programming Skills
Advanced experience with one or more modern programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C Sharp, Python or similar technologies.
Frontend or Backend Development
Strong knowledge of modern frontend frameworks, backend services or full stack application development.
Cloud Platforms
Practical experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform.
Software Architecture
Experience designing application architectures, integration solutions, data flows and secure system components.
Development Practices
Strong understanding of automated testing, version control, continuous integration, continuous delivery and agile software development.
Leadership
Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, influence technical decisions and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Problem Solving
Ability to analyse complex technical issues and recommend practical, maintainable solutions.
Communication
Strong written and spoken English skills are required.
Desirable Experience
Experience with microservices, containerisation and Kubernetes
Experience with React, Vue or Angular
Experience designing REST or GraphQL APIs
Knowledge of DevOps and infrastructure automation
Experience with secure software development practices
Experience working within a technology consultancy or enterprise services environment
Pay: £4,585.00-£6,200.00 per month
