Perth & Kinross Council aims to work with the residents of the Perth & Kinross area to provide independent living across all communities.
Access Team within the Early Intervention and Prevention Service has vacancy for a Qualified Social Worker, the team has recently been reviewed with the scope of work focusing on critical and short-term interventions along with signposting and Adult Support & Protection. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly innovative team, the work is extremely fast paced and varies each day with excellent training, supervision provided, average case time intervention being two to twelve weeks.
The successful applicant will assist in supporting people within the community by providing a range of social work tasks including carrying out Outcome Focussed Assessments, negotiating flexible support, promoting Self Directed Support, attending meetings and working closely with our colleagues in Housing, Locality Teams, Care providers, Commissioning and Health.
Responsibilities also include statutory work under the Adult Support and Protection Act, delivering a duty service and attending regular mental health triage meeting.

Key Requirements
This post requires a high degree of flexibility and commitment to responsive service delivery.
The successful candidate will:
- Work across a range of shifts, including evenings and weekends
- Be part of a service aligned to seven-day working and extended hours provision
- Work collaboratively across agencies, including the third sector, health services, and lived experience networks, to deliver coordinated and holistic support
- Respond flexibly to service demand in line with evolving operational needs

The ideal candidate will be motivated, engaging and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Effective time management is essential for the successful autonomous worker to manage a complex caseload with the ability to be flexible and respond to crisis / competing demands being integral to the role.
A good understanding of Self Directed Support and how this is delivered is essential. Knowledge of services, challenges, demands, and demographics within PKC would be an advantage.
You must have experience of assessment of Social and Personal Care needs along with working experience of Adult Support & Protection. You must be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of social work principles and values; Experience of Adult Support and Protection Procedures and all relevant legislation.
You must have a DIPSW, CQSW, CSS and relevant Social Work Qualifications. You must have a good level of experience in Adult Social Work, NQSW need not apply on this occasion.
You will have a current registration with SSSC and be eligible to register with PVG scheme. You will also hold a current UK driving licence as the Access Team covers Perth & Kinross in its entirety.
You will demonstrate good written, IT and verbal communication skills, the ability to undertake assessment of mental wellbeing and demonstrate succinct good care planning and review processes.
You must have a genuine interest in working with people in a Recovery focussed approach to improve their mental health and wellbeing. You will have previous experience of working with people with mental health needs.
