Payroll Coordinator
Location: Is flexible Nottingham or Peterborough
Hours: Part-time 25 hours per week on average over the month - due the nature of the role flexibility in weekly working hours is required.
Salary: £15.00 per hour
About the role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Payroll Coordinator to join the Fortava team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for delivering an accurate and efficient payroll service, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time while maintaining compliance with payroll legislation and company policies.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of payroll activities, ensuring employee records are maintained accurately, payroll changes are processed promptly, and employee queries are resolved efficiently. Working closely with managers, Finance, and the People Team, you will help ensure payroll operations run smoothly, deadlines are met, and compliance with statutory requirements is maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
· Maintain and update employee payroll records, ensuring all changes are processed correctly.
· Calculate and administer statutory payments, including SSP, SMP, SPP, and other family leave payments.
· Manage pension auto-enrolment activities, including postponements, opt-ins, opt-outs, and pension submissions.
· Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements, payroll legislation, and company policies.
· Reconcile payroll data and investigate discrepancies to ensure accuracy.
· Respond to payroll-related queries from employees and managers in a timely and professional manner.
· Support new starter, contractual change, and leaver payroll processes.
· Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and payroll data.
· Work collaboratively with the People and Finance teams to ensure payroll information is accurate and up to date.
· Assist with year-end payroll activities, including P60 production and reporting.
· Support payroll audits and maintain accurate payroll records.
· Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes and procedures.
Requirements
· Previous experience in a payroll administration or payroll officer role.
· Good understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory payments, including SSP, SMP, SPP, and pension auto-enrolment.
· Experience processing payroll accurately and meeting strict deadlines.
· Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy when handling payroll data.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
· Experience using payroll software
· Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate and resolve payroll queries.
