We're looking for an enthusiastic and organised Animal Care Technician to join our Animal Care team at Peterborough College.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with hands-on experience working with a variety of animal species who would like to play a key role in supporting the next generation of animal care professionals. You'll help maintain excellent standards of animal husbandry, support practical learning sessions and ensure our animal facilities remain safe, clean and well organised.
No two days are the same, making this a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working both independently and as part of a team.
As an Animal Care Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of our animal facilities and assisting both staff and students during practical activities.
Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the care and welfare of a wide range of animal species.
- Supervising and assisting students during practical learning activities.
- Monitoring animal health and maintaining accurate records.
- Maintaining clean, safe and organised animal accommodation and work areas.
- Assisting with stock control, ordering and equipment maintenance.
- Supporting teaching staff in the preparation of practical sessions.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures, including COSHH requirements.
- Participating in risk assessments and promoting safe working practices.
- Supporting weekend animal feeding duties on a rota basis alongside colleagues.
We're looking for someone who:

Holds a Level 3 qualification in Animal Care, Animal Management or a related subject.
- Has practical experience working with a wide variety of animal species.
- Has a strong understanding of animal welfare and husbandry practices.
- Enjoys supporting and encouraging learners in a practical environment.
- Is organised, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Has a flexible and positive approach to work.
