Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Commis Chef to join our team at Peterborough's number 1 seafood restaurant. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop foundational skills in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment. The successful candidate will assist Adam, our chef-patron in preparing high-quality dishes, ensuring adherence to food safety standards, and gaining valuable culinary experience. Duties
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and measuring ingredients
- Support the kitchen team in cooking and assembling dishes according to recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, adhering to hygiene regulations
- Help with meal preparation for service periods, ensuring timely delivery of orders
- Follow food safety protocols at all times to ensure the safety and quality of food served
- Assist with stock rotation, storage, and inventory checks as directed by senior staff
- Support the team during busy service times by serving as a reliable team member
- Participate in training sessions aimed at developing culinary skills and knowledge
Qualifications
- Passion for food preparation and cooking with a keen interest in developing culinary skills
- Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is desirable but not essential
- Basic understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn new techniques and take direction
- Previous experience in serving or hospitality roles is advantageous but not required
