Overview
Join our vibrant team as a Nursery Cook, where your culinary expertise and leadership skills will create a nurturing and delightful dining experience for our young learners. This role offers an exciting opportunity to combine professional culinary skills with a passion for early childhood development, ensuring that every meal is nutritious, appealing, and tailored to the dietary needs of children. As a key member of our nursery staff, you will lead food preparation, manage kitchen operations, and uphold the highest standards of food safety and hygiene in a dynamic, supportive environment.

Duties

Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and menu plans tailored for young children
Supervise kitchen staff and assist in training team members to ensure efficient food production and service
Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies, stock rotation, and minimizing waste to ensure cost-effective food management
Oversee food handling procedures, maintaining strict adherence to food safety standards and hygiene regulations
Plan menus that cater to diverse dietary requirements, including allergies and special diets, while ensuring variety and nutritional balance
Coordinate with nursery staff to schedule meal times, monitor portion sizes, and ensure timely food service during busy periods
Maintain accurate records of food production, storage temperatures, cleaning schedules, and compliance documentation

Requirements

Level 2 Qualified Chef certification or equivalent culinary qualification with proven experience in a professional kitchen setting
Strong knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP protocols, and hygiene practices within the food industry
Experience with menu planning, inventory management, and food service operations in a childcare or similar environment is highly desirable
Proven track record catering for allergies and food intolerances
