Overview

We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester/Mechanic to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting MOT tests and providing essential mechanical repairs and maintenance. This role offers an opportunity to utilise your technical expertise within a professional environment, ensuring vehicles meet safety and environmental standards. The position is fully paid and ideal for individuals with a passion for automotive technology and hands-on work.

Duties

Conduct MOT tests in accordance with legal and safety standards, accurately assessing vehicle condition.
Perform routine mechanical repairs, servicing, and maintenance on a variety of vehicle makes and models.
Diagnose faults using appropriate tools and techniques, ensuring efficient resolution.
Use hand tools and power tools to carry out repairs, replacements, and adjustments as required.
Assist with vehicle inspections, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
Handle heavy lifting tasks safely when moving or installing vehicle components or equipment.
Maintain detailed records of all work carried out, including test results and repair documentation.
Ensure the workshop remains clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards.

Skills

Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in automotive repairs and diagnostics.
Proficiency in using hand tools such as spanners, screwdrivers, and socket sets.
Competence with power tools necessary for various repair tasks.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, adhering to manual handling guidelines.
Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.
Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate testing and repairs.
Strong communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to colleagues or customers.
