Continuous Improvement Manager
Multi-Site Role | 38.5 Hours per Week | Reporting to General Manager
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Continuous Improvement Manager to lead the development and ongoing improvement of our Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) systems across a multi-site business.
This is a standalone role offering significant autonomy and direct engagement with senior leadership. You will act as the key specialist for QHSE and continuous improvement, driving performance, compliance, and operational excellence across the business. From time to time, you may also be required to support other business units within the wider group as improvement initiatives and priorities evolve.
This role is ideal for an experienced QHSE or CI professional who enjoys working in a growing SME environment, where they can make a tangible impact and directly shape how systems and processes develop without the constraints of a large corporate structure.
Key ResponsibilitiesContinuous Improvement, Management Systems & Compliance
- Lead the maintenance and continual improvement of the Integrated Management System in line with:
- ISO 9001:2015
- ISO 14001:2015
- ISO 45001:2018
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement across all sites using practical, Lean-based principles.
- Lead internal and external audits and ensure effective closure of findings.
- Monitor performance against QHSE and operational KPIs, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant UK statutory requirements and Codes of Practice.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HSE legislation and industry best practice.
Health, Safety & Environmental
- Promote a proactive, positive, and zero-harm safety culture across all sites.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure effective control measures are implemented.
- Develop, review, and improve safe systems of work.
- Carry out regular site inspections to ensure standards are consistently applied.
- Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and non-conformances, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Maintain high standards of environmental compliance, health, safety, and wellbeing.
Operational Improvement & Reporting
- Produce performance reports and analysis for senior management.
- Identify and lead practical improvement initiatives to enhance quality, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
- Maintain compliance records and support control of certification and inspection documentation.
- Deliver in-house training and coaching to managers and employees.
- Provide hands-on support and guidance to operational teams to embed continuous improvement behaviours.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in a QHSE and/or Continuous Improvement role within a regulated or operational environment.
- Qualified auditor (internal and/or lead auditor for ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) essential.
- NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) essential.
- Strong understanding of UK HSE legislation.
- Experience applying Lean, CI, or operational excellence principles (desirable).
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities across multiple sites.
- Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a strong commitment to improvement.
