Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated warehouse/delivery person to join our team. The ideal candidate will have physical stamina, organisational skills, strong communication skills and a passion for delivering excellent customer service. The role involves loading and unloading delivery vans and lorries, delivering and assembling furniture and beds to customers, keeping store, shop grounds and vans organised, clean and tidy, and assisting with in store shop displays.
Responsibilities:
Receiving and Processing:
- Receiving deliveries: Unloading trucks and verifying incoming deliveries against paperwork.
- Inspecting goods: Checking for damage or missing items and reporting any discrepancies.
- Storing inventory: Placing items in designated storage locations, ensuring proper organisation.
Delivering furniture and beds:
- Loading and Unloading: Safely and efficiently loading furniture and beds into the delivery vehicle and unloading it at customer locations.
- Safe Delivery: Driving the vehicle safely and adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Route Navigation: Planning and following designated routes to ensure timely deliveries.
- Customer Service: Providing friendly and helpful service to customers during deliveries, addressing any concerns or issues.
- Furniture Assembly: Assembling furniture and beds to a high standard at the customer's location.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Performing basic vehicle maintenance, such as checking fluids, tires, and lights.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of deliveries, including signed receipts and delivery confirmations.
- Problem Solving: Addressing any issues that may arise during the delivery process, such as delays or damaged furniture.
Order Fulfilment:
- Picking orders: Collecting items from shelves or storage units based on customer orders.
- Packing orders: Preparing items for delivery, including assembly, wrapping and labelling packages.
- Loading deliveries: Loading stock onto delivery vans.
Inventory Management:
- Maintaining inventory records: Keeping track of stock levels and updating sales office.
- Inventory checks: Conducting regular counts to ensure accurate inventory levels.
Other Responsibilities:
- Maintaining a clean and safe workspace: Ensuring the warehouse, shop grounds, vans are tidy, organised, and safe.
- Following safety procedures: Adhering to all safety regulations and using personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
- Assisting with other warehouse/shop floor tasks: Helping with various duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Warehouse experience in a retail environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated
- Passionate about delivering good customer service
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a customer-oriented mindset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well in a team and independently
- Full clean drivers licence
- Good at assembly
