What You'll Be Doing
As Head Chef, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the kitchen, ensuring food is prepared safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Your responsibilities will include:

Leading and motivating the kitchen team to deliver an outstanding catering service.

Preparing and cooking meals to agreed recipes, portion sizes and quality standards.

Planning menus in line with client requirements and ensuring meals are served on time.

Managing food ordering, stock control and stock rotation to minimise waste and achieve food cost targets.

Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness in line with HACCP and Food Safety legislation.

Ensuring accurate completion of food safety records, including temperature monitoring.

Managing kitchen budgets and key performance indicators, including food margins and stock takes.

Ensuring all catering equipment is used safely, maintained correctly and any faults are reported promptly.

Promoting a positive health, safety and food safety culture across the kitchen.

Supporting and developing team members through coaching and training.

Reporting incidents, hazards and any operational issues, taking corrective action where appropriate.

Participating in training, meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and all relevant legislation.

Lead by example in promoting Sodexo's Health, Safety and Environment standards.

Maintain knowledge of COSHH regulations and ensure all cleaning chemicals are stored and used safely.

Ensure all team members understand and follow company health and safety procedures.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role you'll have:
-
A minimum of 5 years' professional catering experience.
-
At least 3 years' experience in a Kitchen Management or supervisory role.

Previous catering management experience.

Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food costing, stock management and KPIs.

A Food Safety & Hygiene qualification.

Excellent understanding of HACCP principles and food safety management systems.

Experience managing budgets, reducing waste and maintaining high food quality standards.

Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
-
A proactive approach to health, safety and continuous improvement.
