People Resource Planner at Clayton Glass
Clayton Glass: The Difference Is Clear to See
At Clayton Glass, we do things differently — and we’re proud of it. The Clayton Difference runs through everything we do, from innovation to the long-term relationships we build with both customers and colleagues.
We value honesty, loyalty, and a true commitment to excellence. We put people first, investing in growth, development, and the wellbeing of our teams.
If you’re looking for more than just a job — if you want to join a forward-thinking team where your contributions matter — Clayton Glass could be the perfect fit for you.
The Role
As a People Resource Planner, you will play a key role in supporting our seven manufacturing sites to ensure they are effectively resourced to meet production demands.
Working from our Nottingham site, you will support Site Managers by coordinating workforce planning activities, helping them manage holidays, absences, and shift coverage to maintain safe, efficient, and productive operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop their career within a business environment, with exposure to operations, planning, and data. Full training will be provided on our internal systems and reporting tools.
More than anything, we’re looking for the right person. This role would suit someone who is approachable, a strong team player, and genuinely enjoys helping others. You will be working closely with Site Managers, so being able to build good relationships, communicate clearly, and patiently support people is key. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and the right approach to teamwork are equally important as prior experience — full training will be provided on all systems and processes.
If you are organised, dependable, and keen to develop your skills in a supportive environment, this is a great opportunity to start and grow your career with Clayton Glass.
Key Responsibilities
· Workforce Planning Support: Assist Site Managers in planning holidays and absences to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained within each site.
· Absence & Cover Coordination: Help ensure appropriate cover is in place during periods of planned and unplanned absence, minimising disruption to production.
· Skills & Capability Tracking: Review training records and skills matrices to identify which employees can provide cover in different areas.
· Minimum Coverage Awareness: Support understanding of critical staffing levels required to maintain safe and effective production operations.
· Data & Reporting: Maintain accurate records and produce simple reports using Microsoft Excel to support workforce planning decisions.
· Working with Site Managers: Work closely with Site Leads and Managers to support day-to-day resourcing requirements across each site.
· Administrative Support: Maintain organised and up-to-date planning records and documentation.
Essential Criteria
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Good level of accuracy when handling data and records
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with people at all levels
- Proactive and reliable, with a willingness to learn
Desirable (Non-Essential)
- Previous administrative or planning experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing or operational environment
- Familiarity with shift-based working environments
[Experience of staff rota planning or scheduling in a fast-paced environment would be advantageous, particularly where you have managed staffing levels to meet changing demand. Backgrounds in production, manufacturing, logistics, retail or similar operational settings would be beneficial, alongside strong IT skills, especially Excel or workforce planning systems.
You should be highly organised and comfortable juggling multiple priorities, responding quickly to changes such as absences or short-notice requirements. Full training will be provided, so this role would suit someone with the right transferable skills who can adapt quickly and enjoys a busy, reactive environment.]
