Job Overview
SUSHINOEN, a charming Japanese restaurant, is seeking a passionate and dedicated par-time Sushi Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a flair for Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi, maki preparation, and will contribute to creating an authentic dining experience for our guests. This role offers flexible hours suitable for individuals who have flexile availability. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi and maki rolls maintaining food safety standards.

Duties

Prepare a variety of sushi and Japanese dishes in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards
Assist in the organisation and cleanliness of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations
Slice fish, vegetables, and other ingredients with precision and care
Monitor ingredient freshness and notify management of stock levels to ensure availability of supplies
Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the kitchen
Collaborate with team members to deliver efficient service during busy periods
Assist with meal preparation for special events or menu updates as required
Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner to meet customer expectations

Experience

Previous experience is not required but proven experience in food preparation, particularly in maki or Japanese cuisine is highly desirable
Previous kitchen experience within a restaurant setting is advantageous
Knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling of raw ingredients
Familiarity with culinary techniques related to meal preparation and presentation
Experience working in a fast-paced environment with excellent organisational skills
