This role is for Willows Group - the parent company to CB1
-----
A newly created role at the centre of a fast-growing portfolio of healthtech businesses.
Willows Group works across a portfolio of healthtech companies spanning medicinal cannabis, medical tourism, primary care support services and consumer pharmacy, built by an entrepreneurial team of clinicians and scaling at speed to serve patients across the country.
We are appointing a Finance Controller to take full ownership of the finance and compliance function for our standalone entities: Willows Pharma, CB1 Pharmacy, Apex Health Connect and Ideoshift, plus every new business that joins the group.
This is not maintaining someone else's machine. You will be building the function as the group grows.
Why this role is different:
- A genuinely new post with real ownership: your entities, your compliance calendar, your processes
- A growing portfolio, with new entities joining the group over time and onboarded by you from day one
- You will co-lead the transition of bookkeeping in-house with our existing Finance Controller, standardising systems across the portfolio
- Direct line to the Finance Director, working alongside an established Finance Controller as your peer
- Ring-fenced time and funded CPD in NHS finance, healthcare VAT and QuickBooks Online reporting
- Scope to supervise a bookkeeper or accounts assistant as the function grows
What you will own:
- End-to-end compliance for four trading entities (and counting): bookkeeping, payments, reconciliations and cash monitoring
- Payroll, PAYE/NI and pension obligations across the portfolio
- VAT returns under Making Tax Digital, Corporation Tax processes and year-end close
- Companies House filings, statutory accounts and the external accountant relationship
- Sector-specific regulation, including pharmacy compliance (GPhC, CQC, MHRA, DSPT)
- Monthly and quarterly management accounts per entity, cash flow forecasting and KPI reporting
- A live compliance calendar covering every deadline for every entity
What we are looking for:
You are a qualified, part-qualified or qualified-by-experience accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or AAT with strong relevant experience) who has run multi-entity bookkeeping and management accounts to trial balance. You know QuickBooks Online and AP tools like Lightyear, you have submitted VAT returns under MTD yourself, and you are the kind of person who spots a cash shortfall or a looming deadline before anyone else does.
Healthcare, pharmacy or NHS finance experience is a bonus, not a requirement. We care more about reconciliation discipline, sound judgement and the appetite to build something.
What we offer:
- Pension
- Funded CPD, with ring-fenced time for development
- Employee Assistance Programme through BrightHR
- Discounts across our portfolio of services
Willows Group Limited is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds. Only candidates selected for interview will be contacted.
Benefits:
- Casual dress
- On-site parking
Work Location: In person
