CNC Turner / Programmer
Toolrite Ltd is looking for an experienced CNC Turner who can confidently program, set and operate CNC lathes.
This role would suit someone who enjoys varied engineering work, likes solving problems and wants to be part of an energetic, supportive team where their experience and ideas are valued.
You will be trusted to take ownership of your work, while having the support of an experienced team around you whenever it is needed.
The Role
You will take jobs from engineering drawing through to finished component, including programming, setting, machining and inspecting your own work.
Our work is varied and often technically challenging, so you will need to be comfortable making decisions, solving problems and helping to keep jobs moving through the workshop.
During busy periods, there may also be opportunities to support with setting and operating CNC milling machines, so a flexible approach would be beneficial.
What You Will Be Doing
- Programming CNC lathes
- Setting and running your own jobs from start to finish
- Reading engineering drawings and working to tight tolerances
- Selecting appropriate tooling, speeds and feeds
- Inspecting your own components and maintaining high quality standards
- Working closely with colleagues to solve problems and meet customer requirements
- Contributing ideas and supporting the continued improvement of the workshop
What We Are Looking For
- At least three years of CNC turning experience
- Proven CNC programming ability
- Confidence working independently and taking ownership of jobs
- A strong understanding of engineering drawings and inspection methods
- A practical, positive and problem-solving approach
- Someone who enjoys being busy and working as part of a close-knit team
Programming ability is essential for this position and will form part of the interview process. Applicants whose experience is primarily limited to setting and operating pre-written programs may not be suitable for this particular role.
