Lang & Potter, a dynamic, bespoke manufacturing company, is currently recruiting for a fantastic opportunity for a keen and ambitious trainee waterfront fitter to join our team based at Galileo Close.
Job Description
Joining a team specialising in the manufactory of bespoke products for military and commercial uses. Initially the role would involve contributing to a range of process to support the team. On progression, the successful candidate would receive training in the manufacturing processes themselves. The candidate would in due course be expected to receive training in the fitment of products on customer sites including within HM Naval Bases and on-board HM Ships.
Your day to day job may include
- Allocation and correct distribution of fire safety products to various locations on HM vessels
- Assist in fitting smoke curtains and other soft furnishings such as curtains and cushions on board, when and where required.
- Quality checking product before dispatching to site
- Weighing and wrapping product before distribution
- Some overnight stays are required. Hotel accommodation is provided alongside a food allowance. These overnights will be throughout the UK, there are no set dates and can be 1 overnight or more.
- This role will require the candidate at times to work in small, confined spaces or at height while on board vessels, there will also be a requirement to negotiate steep stairs while moving around
Skills and Experience required
- Ability to use hand tools such as drills, scissors, tape measures
- Capability to use PC competently
- Candidates must have excellent attention to detail, good hand to eye coordination, exceptional work ethic and teamwork
- An understanding of processes and paperwork would be an advantage
Key Performance Indicators
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements are met to provide safe working practices
- Adherence to 6S procedures and audits
- Contribute to continuous improvement to develop our processes to become more efficient and leaner
- Candidates must be polite and be able to represent the company professionally
- Great ability to use own initiative while working off site
Essential qualifications & experience
A good level of English & maths, a level of computer literacy. The role will require that we submit your details to obtain security clearance and this information will subject to checks, full clean driving license, subject to pre-health screening checks
Desirable qualifications & experience
Any CAD experience, any experience working within a phyiscally demanding role including hand tool usage
