Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified CPCS Mobile Crane Operator to join our Plymouth team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years experience and be responsible for operating mobile cranes safely and efficiently on various construction sites. This role requires a strong understanding of crane lifting operations, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work alone and collaboratively within the lifting team. If you hold any other crane related CPCS qualifications such as Slinger Signaller or Crane Lift Supervisor, this is an added bonus. The company is a well establised crane hire company, committed to safety and excellence.
Duties
- Conduct pre-operational checks on crane to ensure safety and functionality
- Operate a 40te mobile truck mounted crane to lift, move, and position materials and equipment on customers sites
- Follow detailed lifting plans and site instructions to execute tasks accurately
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Undertake training from time to time as directed by the company and requirements of the business
Skills
- Excellent time keeping to ensure you are always punctual when arriving at customers sites
- Proven experience operating truck mounted mobile cranes with valid CPCS certification
- Mechanical knowledge related to crane operation and basic maintenance
- Ability to interpret lift plans and site instructions accurately
- Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and site managers
- Organised approach with attention to detail to ensure both safety compliance and operational efficiency
Hours of Work
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
- Friday: 8:00am – 3:30pm
Overtime
- Any hours worked outside of your core working hours are paid at time and a half for the first four hours, then double time thereafter
- Weekend and night work is paid at double time
- Overnight stays whilst working have a night-out allowance, together with a meal allowance
PPE
All relevant PPE required for your role will be provided free of charge, with an allowance towards safety boots.
Annual Leave
You will be entitled to 23 days' annual leave, plus bank holidays.
Please note that the company closes over the Christmas period, and you will normally be required to use 3–4 days of your annual leave entitlement during this shutdown.
