Head of Finance

Salary: £50k - £60k
Benefits: 9% company contribution pension, 26 days annual plus statutory bank holidays, (including a day for your birthday) free parking
Working Hours: Thirty seven, (37) hours a week. Flexibility to work additional hours is required and may need to travel and attend events out of hours. A degree of flexible working is permitted.

The Role
This is not just a typical “sit behind the numbers” finance role.

As Head of Finance, you will own and lead the finance function, ensuring strong financial control, clear and trusted reporting, and a solid platform for sustainable growth.
You’ll be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to strategy, challenging thinking where needed, and helping the business make well informed, data supported decisions.
You’ll also act as Company Secretary, playing a central role in governance, Board and Finance Committee processes, and ensuring everything runs as it should.

You’ll combine doing, leading, and partnering, and you’ll be expected to add real value.
What You’ll Be Doing
· Owning financial performance, reporting, and control across the organisation
· Delivering clear, accurate, and timely management information that the business can actually use
· Leading budgeting, forecasting, and forward financial planning
· Managing cashflow, risk, and financial stability
· Partnering with the SLT and wider team to support decision making, investment, and growth
· Leading and developing a small finance team (with support from an Assistant Management Accountant)
· Overseeing outsourced payroll to ensure accuracy, compliance, and control
· Acting as Company Secretary, supporting governance, Board reporting, and compliance
· Building strong relationships across the business, treating colleagues as your customers
About You
You’re not just technically strong, you’re commercially aware, pragmatic, and comfortable taking ownership.
You’re likely to be:
- A qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA or equivalent)
- Experienced in a role with real accountability, where you’ve had to both deliver and think
- Used to working in a fast-moving, SME or commercial real estate environment / science park
- Confident challenging assumptions and explaining numbers in plain English
- Comfortable managing and nurturing a small team
- Calm, structured and solutions focused under pressure
- Someone who follows things through and takes responsibility for outcomes
- Having NetSuite experience is desirable, but not essential
