Quality Engineering Manager

Location:

Salary:
£55,000 - £65,000 depending on qualifications and experience plus bonus

Contract Type:
Permanent, Full-time

Working Monday – Friday 39 hours per week.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and driven Quality Engineering Manager to lead our Quality Engineering team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality leader who is passionate about continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, new product introduction (NPI), and developing high-performing teams. You will play a key role in ensuring our products, processes, and systems consistently meet customer, regulatory, and business requirements while driving quality excellence across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Leading and managing the Quality Engineering team.
Driving a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and problem solving.
Managing customer complaints and ensuring robust corrective actions are implemented.
Leading 8D investigations and root cause analysis activities.
Managing Quality KPIs and reporting on departmental performance.
Supporting and qualifying New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
Managing part qualification activities for NPI and engineering changes.
Ensuring compliance with customer requirements, company standards, and ISO management systems.
Working collaboratively with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
Leading team appraisals, coaching, and development activities.
Promoting a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

HNC (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline.
Demonstrable experience in a quality role within manufacturing.
Demonstrable leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience managing and developing engineering teams.
Knowledge of structured New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
Strong problem-solving skills and experience using structured quality methodologies.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Strong organisational and workload management skills.
Understanding of people management processes and procedures.

Desirable

CMI Level 4 or 5 Management qualification.
CQI Quality qualification.
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
Degree in an Engineering discipline.
Experience with PPAP requirements and management.
Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
Knowledge of measurement techniques and capability studies (Cp/Cpk).
