Why choose Edwards Coaches?
Edwards Coaches is a successful coach operator at the forefront of the transport industry. We are a well-established family business boasting a history of innovation that began in 1925. We are proud of our history and are continually looking for ways to improve our business and ensure our future is bright.
We will invest in your training and development and offer you the opportunity to work with highly skilled and experienced coach Engineers. Our team will support you to gain the skills and knowledge required to problem solve and repair coaches while making a positive contribution to the Company.
What can I expect from my Apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a great way to earn whilst learning a skill. We undertake all our own engineering work. Our apprentices learn anything from routine maintenance on coaches to more technically advanced jobs, like working out where a particular electrical fault has occurred and how to repair it. We also have a wide range of diagnostic equipment and carry out full engine rebuilds.
Being an apprentice with Edwards Coaches is more than just getting a foot in the door; it could lead to a long and fulfilling career with us. Our apprenticeship is within an area deemed to be a priority by the Welsh Government.
Pairing with Cardiff and Vale College our apprenticeship scheme runs for four years with one day a week spent in college for the first three years. The programme delivers training that is tailored to working with coaches and the skills required to become a Coach Engineer. During the fourth year of your apprenticeship, you will complete work-based learning, supported by our team of qualified engineers, to enable you to gain the confidence required to apply the skills you have learned.
When you qualify from the programme you will have gained an IMIAL Level 3 Diploma in Principles of Bus and Coach Engineering and Maintenance (Mechanical) and will be a qualified engineer. We will also put you through your PSV licence as part of your apprenticeship.
