We are looking for a part-time Medical Secretary to join our busy but friendly GP Surgery. This is a varied role and experience in a GP Surgery is preferable, however not essential, as training will be given.
You must be reliable, have good IT skills, have attention to detail, be organised, a fast learner, and able to work under pressure. You must be a team player but also be able to work under your own initiative.
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our GP Surgery by providing administrative support to medical staff and patients.
The hours are Monday to Friday, 30 hours a week, from 8am to 2pm.
The salary is £2581.38 to £26415.42 pro-rata, dependent on experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Overview of Position
To provide a full range of secretarial support duties and administrative duties to the GP Partners. Act as the first point of contact for patients and staff alike in the distribution of these duties, including liaising with other Healthcare Professionals and Pharmacies. Provide holiday and sickness cover for other administrative duties as directed.
Prescription Duties
Monitor website/emails/electronic tasks/paper requests daily for repeat prescription requests.
Ensure prescription requests are produced within the 24 hour timeframe, referring any anomalies to the GPs, using EPS (electronic prescribing service).
Undertake medication reviews as directed by the GPs, calling patients in for LTC reviews, blood tests etc.
Liaise with Pharmacies where required.
Responsible for the monthly PPA (Prescription Pricing Authority) drugs reimbursement submission.
Action any prescription queries as required.
Administrative Duties
Responsible for completion/distribution of any Insurance Forms, ensuring a log is maintained and updated, including reconciliation of payments and chasing outstanding payments.
Responsible for SAR requests ensuring patient authorisation has been obtained.
Responsible for Document Workflow processing; uploading and processing electronic hospital letters/discharges and paper versions, entering any coding required to patients’ medical records, following the Document Workflow Protocol.
Action any miscellaneous admin queries via emails, tasks and online forms.
Undertake any ad hoc administrative duties as requested by the GPs, Finance & Quality Manager and Practice Manager.
Secretarial Duties
Responsible for ensuring all referrals and letters are produced and sent off via email or e-referral system in a timely manner as required.
Action any secretarial/referral queries as required.
Ensure the e-referral worklist is checked and any rejections/responses dealt with appropriately as required.
Undertake any ad hoc secretarial queries as requested by the GPs, Finance & Quality Manager and Practice Manager.
Additional Duties
Undertake Fire Marshall Duties for the upstairs floors only.
Undertake any reasonable and appropriate duties as dictated by the GPs, Deputy Practice Manager and Practice Manager.
