About the role

The HR team at Avonbourne is expanding and this is a fantastic opportunity to join a large Outstanding secondary school as HR Administrator or HR Apprentice, supporting the team to deliver a high quality HR service across the Academies.

This role is ideally suited to someone who is either already working as an HR Administrator but looking for that next step in a different sector, an experienced administrator looking to move into HR or a school or college leaver looking to start a professional career.

This is a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn, gaining a nationally recognised Level 3 CIPD qualification alongside real, hands-on experience in Human Resources. You will be mentored by an experienced HR Manager, supporting the day-to-day running of a busy HR function in a large secondary school.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting the day-to-day HR administration across the school
Assisting with recruitment and onboarding
Helping to maintain the Single Central Register
Assisting with payroll preparation and processing
Maintaining accurate personnel records and HR systems
Responding to staff queries in a timely and professional manner

About you

The successful candidate will:

have strong organisational and administrative skills
demonstrate excellent communication skills

be highly organised, detail-focused, and able to prioritise effectively
good IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
be a positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn
is flexible, and committed to supporting the wider life of the school

previous HR or administrative experience (desirable but not essential)
