Production Planner
We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Production Planner to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for planning and coordinating production schedules to ensure customer orders are delivered on time, in full and to the required quality standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with fabrication, assembly, purchasing, engineering and dispatch teams to optimise production flow, maximise efficiency and support operational performance across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Create production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery deadlines.
- Communicate directly with customers to resolve queries
- Coordinate workflow across fabrication, assembly, paint and dispatch departments.
- Monitor production capacity, labour availability and material requirements.
- Work closely with purchasing and stores teams to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules.
- Track production progress and adjust schedules to minimise delays and disruptions.
- Liaise with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve planning or scheduling issues.
- Maintain accurate planning data within MRP systems.
- Identify bottlenecks and support continuous improvement initiatives to improve workflow and productivity.
- Communicate production priorities clearly across departments.
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a Production Planner, Scheduler or Manufacturing Planning role.
- Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical capability.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Experience using MRP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive problem-solving approach.
Desirable
- Experience within steel manufacturing, fabrication or engineering sectors.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience with capacity planning and forecasting.
- Understanding of production processes including fabrication and assembly operations.
