As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary design activities and support the development of Construction systems and processes that will drive current & future business expansion.
The Role
Reporting into Head of Construction, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating electrical and civil design packages through development, coordination and execution phases within the international construction arm of G3’s work activities. You will ensure designs meet client requirements, technical standards, safety obligations and project delivery objectives.
This is a position combining technical excellence, project delivery and engineering team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of design engineers and technicians.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities across electrical, mechanical and civil disciplines.
- Maintain accountability for overall design coordination and technical compliance.
- Review and approve technical submissions, drawings, specifications and calculations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations and industry best practice.
- Support the development and implementation of engineering processes and systems to support organisational growth.
- Work closely with project teams, clients, contractors and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Manage design schedules, resources and budgets.
- Conduct design risk assessments and promote safety-by-design principles.
- Support tender submissions, technical proposals and cost estimates.
- Drive innovation, continuous improvement and the adoption of new technologies.
About You
You will be an experienced engineering leader with a strong technical background and a passion for delivering high-quality design solutions.
Essential
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience leading engineering design activities within complex project environments.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design coordination.
- Experience managing and developing engineering teams.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and project management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving capability.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards chartership.
- Experience using industry-standard design software including AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP and Dialux.
- Experience within defence, infrastructure, construction or complex engineering environments.

Location & Working Pattern
This role is primarily site-based at our Portland, Dorset office at Osprey Quay, with flexibility to work from home when operational requirements allow.
