Full job description

Overview

SB Joinery is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented IT & Document Control Assistant to join our team. This is a varied, hands-on role split between providing first-line IT support across the business and assisting the CAD & Projects team with document control administration. The successful candidate will be organised, technically minded, and comfortable working across different systems and teams.

Key Responsibilities

IT Support

Provide first-line IT helpdesk support to staff across the business, resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues
Set up, configure, and maintain end-user devices including desktops, laptops, and peripherals
Support day-to-day administration of IT systems including email, shared drives, and cloud services and software
Assist with network troubleshooting and liaising with third-party suppliers and ISPs where needed
Help maintain the IT asset register and support IT asset management processes
Escalate complex issues to the IT Manager and assist with second-line investigations where appropriate
Support the rollout of IT projects, including software deployments and infrastructure changes
Assist with basic Linux/Unix server administration tasks as required
Assisting with phone system administration

Document Control

Upload and manage CAD drawings and project documents across platforms including Procore, SharePoint, and other project management tools
Ensure all documents are filed in the correct folder locations and comply with SBJ naming conventions and standards
Carry out document revision checks and flag any non-compliance to the CAD Manager
Liaise with the CAD and Projects team to ensure documents are issued and received correctly
Assist with general administrative tasks within the CAD & Projects department as required

Skills & Experience

Essential

Previous experience in an IT support or helpdesk role, or a strong demonstrable interest in IT
Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel)
Strong attention to detail — particularly important for document control tasks
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Good communication skills and a professional, helpful manner
Comfortable working independently and using initiative
Previous experience in an IT support or helpdesk role, or a strong demonstrable interest in IT

Basic understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Wi-Fi)

Experience in a construction, manufacturing, or technical environment
