Logistics Manager

Role Purpose

The Logistics Manager ensures logistics supports Care Shop’s customer experience by delivering a reliable, proactive and commercially focused service. Responsible for leading all logistics and transport activities throughout the operation, the Logistics Manager ensures products are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with customer expectations. The role provides dedicated ownership of carrier management, transport compliance, fleet management, and delivery performance, while working closely with the Operations Manager to ensure an effective end-to-end supply chain. The Logistics Manager will drive continuous improvement across logistics operations, maintaining a strong focus on service, cost, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Reports to/Matrix Working Relationship / Stakeholders

Reports to: Head of Operations

Direct reports: Company drivers

Key stakeholders: Managing Director, Operations Manager, Shift Managers, Customer Service, Procurement & Inventory, Sales, Finance, third-party carriers, vehicle maintenance providers, fleet suppliers, regulatory bodies and customers where required.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Management

· Manage relationships with all third-party logistics providers including FedEx, pallet networks, courier providers, vehicle suppliers and maintenance suppliers

· Monitor carrier performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs.

· Lead regular carrier performance reviews.

· Investigate service failures and implement corrective actions.

· Identify opportunities to improve service levels and reduce logistics costs.

Fleet Management

· Manage the company's vehicle fleet, ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.

· Oversee vehicle servicing, maintenance, and defect reporting.

· Ensure all vehicle documentation remains up to date.

· Support future fleet planning and replacement programmes.

Compliance

· Ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation and company policies.

· Maintain operator license compliance where applicable.

· Monitor driver hours, license checks, and vehicle compliance requirements.

· Support Health & Safety initiatives relating to transport and logistics activities.

Performance Management

· Develop and maintain continuous logistics KPI dashboards

· Monitor delivery performance and customer service metrics.

· Analyse logistics trends to identify opportunities for improvement.

· Support root cause investigations relating to delivery failures and customer credits.

Cost Management

· Own the logistics budget and identify opportunities to improve cost-to-serve whilst protecting customer service.

· Support supplier tenders and contract reviews.

· Evaluate alternative logistics solutions where appropriate.

Business Continuity

· Responsible for contingency planning including:

o Severe weather

o Vehicle failures

o Supplier failures

Continuous Improvement

· Identify opportunities to improve logistics processes.

· Lead logistics improvement initiatives.

· Support wider operational improvement projects.

· Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the logistics function.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

· Previous experience within a transport or logistics management role.

· Strong understanding of transport operations and carrier management.

· Experience managing third-party logistics providers.

· Experience analysing operational KPIs and implementing improvements.

· Strong planning and organisational skills.

· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and operational reporting.

· Computer literate.

· Full UK driving license.

Desirable:

· Transport Manager CPC qualification.

· Experience within warehouse and distribution operations.

· Experience managing outsourced transport networks.

· Experience using Warehouse Management Systems.

· Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.

· Experience delivering operational improvement projects.

What Success Looks like:

· Products are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with customer expectations.

· On Time in Full performance and carrier service performance are consistently monitored and improved.

· Logistics cost per delivery is managed effectively and improvement opportunities are progressed.

· Fleet and transport compliance standards are maintained.

· Delivery-related credits, customer delivery complaints, and carrier claims are reduced through effective root cause action.

· Internal teams and external logistics providers work together seamlessly to support customer service.

Pay: £40,000.00 per year
