Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking General Operator to join our waste management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the yard area, operating machinery, and assisting with the safe processing and handling of recyclable and waste materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate machinery including shredders, balers, and pallet wrappers safely and efficiently
- Carry out general yard maintenance and housekeeping duties
- Sort, move, load, and process waste and recyclable materials
- Ensure machinery and equipment are kept clean and in good working order
- Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies
- Conduct basic daily equipment checks and report faults or maintenance issues
- Assist with loading and unloading vehicles where required
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
- Work as part of a team to meet operational targets and deadlines
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a waste management, recycling, warehouse, or industrial environment preferred
- Experience operating shredders, balers, pallet wrappers, or similar machinery is advantageous
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety
- Physically fit and able to work in an outdoor yard environment
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Forklift licence beneficial but not essential
Pay: £12.71-£13.00 per hour
