Summary
We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, professional School Business Manager to work with the Governors and Senior Leadership Team to play a key role in the strategic management of school operations, with particular focus on Finance, HR and administrative management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- The business and financial management of school resources, including budget and financial planning
- Advising the Senior Leadership Team and governing body regarding the financial position of the school and communicating this to external agencies when required
- Management of the administrative operations of the school, including line management of school support staff
- Negotiating, managing and monitoring licences, insurances and contracts on behalf of the school
- Management of human resources administration for the school for both teaching and support staff, including support for recruitment processes
- Working with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and review the School Improvement Plan
- Overseeing the schools information management systems, including completion of statutory returns and preparation of systems for the new academic year
- Acting as the schools Data Protection Officer and providing guidance and support to staff with regard to Data Protection Regulations
- Developing income generation activities, including the preparation and submission of bids for funding to external agencies
- Assisting with the development and implementation of the marketing strategy for the school
- Overseeing the School Operations Manager in the management of health and safety for the school premises.
- Supervising the administration of external lettings of the school premises.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and ICT skills and extensive knowledge and experience of financial and administrative systems. The additional three weeks will be worked on school INSET days and at key points during the school holidays to ensure continuation of financial processing and preparation for the new academic and financial years.

Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of Grade C in GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
- Recognised initial qualifications relevant to role, e.g. finance/HR/project management/School Business Management (or significant equivalent work-based experience in these areas).
Desirable Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree.
- Certificate in School Business Management or Diploma in School Business Management.
- First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
Essential Experience
- Experience in a financial role using financial computer based management systems.
- Budget forecasting, preparation and monitoring, office organisation and management and sound knowledge of HR regulations.
- Excellent ICT skills with knowledge of computer-based information management and financial management systems.
- Knowledge of statutory responsibilities and reporting requirements for schools in relation to finance, HR, premises management and administration.
Desirable Experience
- Excellent knowledge and experience of SIMS/FMS or equivalent school systems.
- Knowledge and awareness of GDPR and the role of the DPO.
- Knowledge of the duties/role of Clerk to Governors.
Experience of preparing and writing successful bids for grant funding.
