The Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Team, as part of Preston College’s Quality Team, is dedicated to developing extraordinary teaching professionals and promoting excellence in teaching, learning and assessment across the Further Education sector. The team delivers high-quality teacher education programmes, provides expert guidance and mentoring, and works collaboratively with curriculum and quality colleagues to support professional development, continuous improvement and innovation. Committed to helping both new and experienced educators reach their full potential, the team plays a key role in ensuring learners benefit from engaging, inclusive and high-quality educational experiences.

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Initial Teacher Education (ITE) professional to join Preston College’s Quality Team. The successful candidate will hold a PGCE/Cert Ed (or equivalent teaching qualification), have extensive and successful teaching experience within the Further Education sector, and have completed, or be working towards, a relevant Master’s degree in Education or a related discipline. Alongside delivering high-quality teacher education programmes, the role will play a key part in ensuring the quality of mentoring and workplace support provided to PGCE trainees across a range of partner organisations. As such, the successful candidate will have experience of mentoring, coaching or supporting trainee teachers and will work collaboratively with employers, mentors and stakeholders to ensure trainees receive an outstanding placement experience, high-quality professional guidance and the support needed to develop into confident, reflective and effective practitioners. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teacher development, committed to educational excellence and able to build strong professional relationships across a diverse range of educational settings.

Job Title: Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education

Salary: From SCP 24 to SCP 34 £32,494 to £43,674 per year (pro rata for part-time), salary based on qualifications and experience.There will be an opportunity for progression within this pay range.

Hours: 22.2 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
