About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Butcher & Shop Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving meat products, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety, and providing excellent customer service within the shop.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cut, trim, and package meat products to company standards
- Assist customers with orders, product selection, and general enquiries
- Operate weighing, slicing, and packaging equipment safely
- Assist with all elements of inhouse pie production
- Replenish stock and maintain attractive product displays
- Ensure all work areas, counters, and equipment are kept clean and hygienic
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations at all times
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately
- Receive deliveries and assist with stock rotation and inventory checks
- Support the team with general shop duties and opening/closing procedures
Requirements
- Previous experience in butchery or food handling is preferred
- Good knife skills and knowledge of meat preparation is an advantage
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented attitude
- Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards
- Ability to lift and move stock
