Full job description

Butchery / Counter Assistant
Village Butchers Tottington LTD

Location: Tottington, Bury (BL8 4AA)
Hours: Full-time (08.00-17.30) 5 days per week (Monday - Friday)
Salary: Competitive, based on age & experience

Please note - This role is NOT for a trained butcher and is not a butcher trainee / apprenticeship role.

Village Butchers Tottington is a friendly, local, independent shop at the heart of the community. We pride ourselves on high quality produce, excellent customer service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Our team is small, supportive, and passionate about doing things properly — from traditional butchery skills to modern food safety standards.
We’re growing, and we’re looking for someone who shares our values to join the team.

The shop is open 6 days a week – Monday to Saturday (7.30am – 5.30pm).

The Role

We’re looking for a reliable, enthusiastic person to support day‑to‑day operations in the shop. Depending on experience, duties may include:

Serving customers with a friendly, professional manner
Making burgers, kebabs and other value‑added products
Keeping the counter stocked, clean, and well-presented
Maintaining a clean, organised, and hygienic working environment in line with food safety regulations
Assisting with stock rotation and general shop tasks
Maintaining excellent hygiene and food safety practices
Working as part of a supportive, close-knit team
Completing routine cleaning tasks, including surfaces, equipment, and customer areas, to ensure the shop is always presentable

Salary is dependent on experience and will be discussed and confirmed at interview.
Applicants must be able to reliably commute to the shop for work – This is an in person role and there is no remote working.
