Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and practice trained proactive Bookkeeper / Semi Senior Accountant to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a solid foundation in accounting principles and experience with various accounting software. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting their manager. Prior experience with recognised accounting platforms and a strong organisational skill set are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including data entry and reconciliation of accounts using accounting software such as Xero, Sage etc.
Maintain accurate records of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments
Assist in preparing financial statements, reports, and summaries for management review
Communicating and liaising with clients to ensure timely production of accurate information
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal policies
Assist in the preparation of year end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies and the associated tax returns
Organise and file financial documents systematically for easy retrieval
Ad hoc tasks - as required

Experience

Proven experience working with accounting software such as Xero and Sage, is essential
Demonstrable knowledge of bookkeeping practices, including accounts payable and receivable management
Prior experience in a semi senior or similar accounting role is preferred
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently whilst also collaborating effectively within a team
Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards within the UK

Desirable Qualifications / Skills

Part qualified ACCA, ACA, AAT or qualified by experience
Having a comprehensive knowledge and experience of Xero software
