Genome Design is a Porsche specialist workshop based at The Motorist in Sherburn-in-Elmet, Leeds not a lock up with a ramp, but a genuine destination for car enthusiasts. On-site restaurant, drivers' lounge, a shop, and a community of Porsche and performance car owners passing through every day, alongside a working facility most main dealers can't match.
We're looking for a Workshop Manager who brings real passion for the Porsche brand and proven experience running or controlling a workshop environment. Whether your background is workshop scheduling, service management, or operational control, what matters most is that you understand how a workshop should run at a high standard, and you want to be part of one of the most complete Porsche environments outside the factory network. Tools or technician experience is a strong advantage, but it's not the requirement, This is about management, standards, and the ability to keep a busy workshop running exactly as it should.
What you'll be doing:-
● Planning and running the daily workshop schedule across servicing, diagnostics, ECU calibration, and performance builds
● Managing and developing the technician team. Allocation, standards, training, accountability
● Quality control on every job before it leaves the workshop
● Keeping customers in the loop on every job daily
● Overseeing parts and supplier relationships so the right components are on the shelf when they're needed
● Owning warranty administration for our Tuning Approved Warranty product
● Working closely with the owner on workshop capacity, throughput, and standards as we grow

Role Summary
Genome Design is seeking a Workshop Manager to take operational ownership of the workshop floor at our HQ based at The Motorist, a working facility and car enthusiast venue combining premium Porsche servicing and tuning with an on-site restaurant, drivers' lounge, and shop. The successful candidate will bring genuine enthusiasm for the Porsche brand alongside proven experience controlling or managing a workshop environment. Hands-on tools or technician background is an advantage but not essential the priority is someone who can run a high-standard workshop with confidence.
Key ResponsibilitiesWorkshop Operations & Scheduling
● Plan and manage the daily/weekly workshop schedule across servicing, diagnostics, ECU calibration, and performance work
● Balance technician workload against job complexity and deadlines
● Monitor job progress and intervene where jobs are at risk of slipping
● Ensure customers are kept updated regularly
Team Management
● Direct line management of workshop technicians, including day-to-day allocation, performance, and conduct
● Support technician development and identify training needs, particularly around Porsche-specific systems and diagnostics
● Set and enforce workshop standards for workmanship, cleanliness, and process
Quality Control
● Final sign-off on completed jobs before vehicle handback
● Spot-check work in progress against Genome's standards, not just factory minimums
● Own the resolution process when a job doesn't meet standard first time
Customer Liaison
● Provide updates to customers on complex, extended, or multi-stage jobs
● Handle escalations that need operational authority to resolve
● Support the front-of-house team with technical context for quotes and estimates
Warranty Administration
● Oversee administration of the Tuning Approved Warranty scheme, underwritten by Warranty Solutions Group
● Ensure warranty terms are correctly applied and documented across relevant jobs
Parts & Supplier Management
● Manage relationships with parts suppliers to ensure availability and lead times support the schedule
● Oversee stock levels for commonly used parts and consumables
● Escalate supplier performance issues where they affect workshop throughput
Business Support
● Work with the owner on workshop capacity planning and throughput as the business grows
● Feed operational insight into wider business decisions (recruitment, equipment, pricing)
Desirable Qualities:-
Genuine passion for the Porsche brand and performance car culture
Hands-on tools or technician experience
Proven experience in a workshop control, coordination, or management role
Direct Porsche factory or franchised dealer background
Demonstrated organisational ability under workload pressure
Experience across 991/992/718/981/997 platforms
Clear, confident communicator, comfortable with customers and suppliers
Prior experience supervising or mentoring a workshop team
Comfortable operating in a premium, enthusiast-facing environment
Familiarity with ECU/performance tuning workflows or warranty administration
