Full job description

To coin the British phrase hodgepodge meaning a jumble of things, we have a hodgepodge of a role that would suit a confident GP vet who likes to work between different environments, while still having a level of consistency in their rota.

About your new role!

Working between 2 very different practices (not on the same day) you will be providing consistency to our clients and teams week in week out.

The rota for this split sole charge role consists of Wednesdays in Croydon, Thursdays and Fridays in New Addington, then 1:4 and 1:10 Mondays in Croydon. Inclusive of the 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:10 Stone Lion Sunday rotation the average weekly hours total is 36.7 per week. There can also be variations if you wished to have an early finish once a week, or additional hours to achieve 40 hours per week.

You will be rota 'd to 1-2 bank holidays per year in Stone Lion, and there are NO on-call requirements.

Both sites have their own nuances, and you will be fully supported in both with experienced support colleagues who have worked in their respective branches for years.

As a sole charge branch vet some of your duties will include:

Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols.
Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care.
Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.
Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues.
Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason.
Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment
Work alongside your RVN to ensure branch meetings are scheduled and the clinics SOPs are being actioned
Oversee the consulting and surgical/diagnostic diary in compliance with company policies.

You will have full clinical support from Stone Lion Hospital in Wimbledon, for any complex referrals you may need to make, and OOH care for your patients.

You also have the support from a dedicated regional manager, and regional head vet who has a wealth of knowledge to pass on and can support you in your clinical management needs.

This is a sole charge position, and you will be comfortable with routine GP consultations and surgery, but ample support is provided by management in the region.

Being south of the river, you are ideally located near idyllic Kingston Upon Thames. New Addington is a stone's throw 2-minute walk from the tram link, and Croydon an 8-minute walk from the tram, where you can pick up other lines to get across the city.

Now lets get to the nitty gritty:

Our sole charge salary band is £60,000 to £90,000 (FTE - this will be pro-rata' d down if less than 40 hours) dependent on prior experience and allowing room for further growth and personal progression within the role.
