We are seeking a passionate and experienced Deputy Manager to join our residential team and support the Registered Manager in delivering outstanding care and leadership within our children's home.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance are maintained. You will lead by example, support, and develop staff, and help create a positive and therapeutic environment for the children and young people in our care.
In the absence of the Registered Manager, you will assume responsibility for the operation of the home and ensure the continued delivery of high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in the effective running of the home.
- Lead, supervise, and motivate the residential support team.
- Ensure children and young people receive high-quality, person-centred care.
- Promote positive outcomes in education, health, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are understood and followed at all times.
- Support recruitment, induction, training, and performance management of staff.
- Maintain compliance with CIW and FSA
- Assist with audits, care planning, risk assessments, and reporting requirements.
- Participate in the on-call rota as required.
- Build positive relationships with families, social workers, schools, and other professionals.
About You
We are looking for an individual who is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people.
Essential Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Children and Young People (or working towards Level 5 CYP)
- Experience working within a children's residential setting.
- Experience using CIW Online, submitting notifications and safeguarding referrals
- Previous experience in a deputy managers role
- Strong knowledge of Safeguarding, RISCA legislation, FSA
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence manual.
Desirable
- Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- Experience preparing for and participating in CIW inspections.
- Knowledge of therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
